Bath Time Fun

Bath TimeWhat is my favourite time with my children you ask? Is it when my 2 year old son asks for “Choo Choo peeese” to watch Thomas the Train?….which by the way is a whole other Blog topic, 2 Year Old’s and TV watching…gasp! No my favorite time with my children is definitely bath time. Bath time at our house is a ritual that while chaotic is cherished by all. It generally starts at dinner, when my 2 year old son decides that pasta and carrots are better suited as a hat than a dinner plate item. After food becomes wardrobe, what other choice do you really have but to fire up the rubber ducky and weigh anchor. My cry of “Who wants a bath?” generally gets a resounding “I Do” from the 5 and 2 year old in perfect harmony. Once upstairs however the challenges set in. I get the water going at the right temperature and then chase after the kids trying to strip them naked. Usually a challenge of “first one naked wins” seems to get the ball rolling. I dread the day when one of them actually asks what they win….. Once in the bath, I madly try to soap up hair before attention is lost. Then deftly use a sprayer to get the soap out as quickly as possible. What usually happens is as follows: 2 year old tries to stand …tell him to sit 5 year old tries to breathe under water like a mermaid and swallows the water 2 year old tries to stand….tell him to sit manage to get soap in both kids hair and get the sprayer ready, not before one of them cries that I got soap in their eyes….which of course I didn’t 2 year old grabs sprayer and sprays me, the mirror and the bathroom floor before I retrieve it from him 5 year old starts pouring water on 2 years old head 2 year old tries to stand…tell him to sit Both play nicely for 2.5 minutes 2 year old attempts to climb out of tub …..you get the picture After I get the wet/dry shop vac upstairs and finish repairing the tsunami damage to the bathroom, toweling off time is actually rather peaceful. Fluffy hair, clean and happy kids make it all worthwhile. So until the next dinner wardrobe….um tomorrow…..bath time is at an end. How do you make your baths go smoothly…I’d REALLY like to know…..
