I call myself “Strong Mommy“….not necessarily because I can bench press 50 pound weights without batting an eye (yeah right!)…..no, like most of you, I take life one day at a time and hope to remain strong for the next. Well, it’s not that bad….but, wow, what a roller coaster ride life has been being a mom and I am proud to say that I am surviving each day to the fullest.
I am the newest member of the GGS crew and absolutely ecstatic to be partnering with them and sharing my motherhood journey with you. Now, you might ask yourself what motherhood has to do with Fitness and Health…..I say, EVERYTHING! Have you ever heard of the saying “happy mommy, happy baby”? That is my life motto and if you are healthy through mind, body and soul then you are going to bound to be a happy mommy.
Therefore, I have joined the GGS clan to share my experiences with you and to help you on your journey to “happiness”. Being a mother of two beautiful children, a devoted wife and a business woman I have an appreciation for the daily struggles that most of you face. Therefore, my job is to bring you information and expose you to resources that can help you get through the tough, day to day situations that you will face as a mom.
My “story” is that when my oldest child was just 3 months old I was sitting in her nursery at 2 o’clock in the morning breastfeeding her for the third time that night. I was exhausted and I thought to myself…..why didn’t anyone tell me that this mothering gig was going to be so darn tough. Sure, my friends and family warned me about some sleep deprivation and maybe a little bit of post partum depression, but I was never forewarned about chaffed nipples, colicky kids, night terrors, breast feeding challenges, etc. I swore to myself right then and there that I would be the one to “inform” all new mothers of what to expect in the first year of “mommy hood”. Of course my goal was not to scare the pants off anyone. No, I wanted to relay the important details to them in a humorous and tongue and cheek fashion. Therefore, I partnered with a friend and mother alike, Lorraine, to write not a book….but a survival guide for new mothers. I am proud to say that you will see our survival guide in a bookstore near you come Spring 2010. The guide is called “The Survival Guide for Rookie Moms”.
During my literary journey I have had the pleasure of meeting various people whom I feel can provide important, humorous and relevant information to you regarding mommy advice. It is my goal through Girl Get Strong to provide you with access to those resources and to help you through your parenting journey.
I am excited to be a part of this wonderful website, however, I do not profess to be an expert by any means. Therefore, I cannot wait to hear the good, bad and the ugly about your parenting experiences as well.
